Phil specialises in advising ultra-high net worth retirement and generation planning and works with entrepreneurial business owners in planning their security outside the risk of their business, he will cover all the options and understand the tax implications of owning a business, after all he owns one.  Primarily, Phil brings the experience of working within all UK business structures. From being a sole trader, (he sold his business to the AIM market), to being a board director of an AIM listed business, and he has been a member of one of the largest limited liability partnerships in the UK.

Phil is the CEO of the Group IFA business and fully understands the fiduciary responsibilities this brings with it.

Most of all, Phil has a real passion to find a solution to a problem.

Steven Banks

Having worked in professional services for over 20 years, Steven brings an extra dimension to his client work. While he has over 15 years’ financial services experience, he also practised as a solicitor for six years working on a broad range of private client matters. He retains his legal practising certificate and is now one of only a few advisers to hold both Certified and Chartered Financial Planning status.

Understanding the unique financial requirements of an individual and their family is something that Steven prides himself on. With no such thing as an average client, he works with his clients to identify their needs at different life stages and then develops appropriate financial strategies to reach those targets.

Gareth Griffiths Bsc (Hons), Dip PFS
Managing Director, Independent Financial Adviser

Gareth was a professional footballer for 14 years before deciding on a change in career and opting to move into financial services. He founded Pro Sport® with Phil Rose, and now focuses upon helping sports men and women secure their financial future. With a firm understanding of the highs and lows of a professional sporting career, Gareth is able to identify with his clients and advise them on how to maximise their earning potential.

Gareth is still involved in sport and is currently a Trustee of the PFA. He also advises clients working in other disciplines of sport, most notably his involvement in rugby where he advises a number of international rugby players.​

A Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, Darren has over 20 years of financial services experience, most of which he focused upon providing specialist financial planning advice to clients. He is a leading advocate of cash flow modelling working in conjunction with lawyers when advising in both high profile divorce cases and complex trust work.

He has also helped entrepreneurial business owners, building robust cash flow models to help them prepare for life after work.  Having held several management positions in both national and regional independent financial planning firms, he has a great deal of practical knowledge in helping clients achieve planning goals and objectives.

Richard Taylor

Richard joined the industry after graduating with an Economics degree from Loughborough University and has 20 years’ experience of advising clients, all as an independent adviser. His expertise has led to him working with a broad cross section of client’s but predominantly dealing now with high net worth private clients and business owners.

He has a strong technical knowledge and is experienced at dealing with complex financial planning matters but is able to convey these to his clients in a clear, concise and understandable way.

Richard believes very strongly in the benefits of establishing long term client relationships and gaining the trust of the clients he acts for and this is reflected in the high level of service his clients enjoy.

Away from work Richard enjoys spending time with his family and he enjoys most sports although participation is limited to playing golf now.

Jane O'Hara FPFS

Jane is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and is STEP affiliated, she strives to create and implement lifetime financial plans for all clients, in order to allow them to achieve the future that they want.

Industry leading qualifications and vastly experienced with over 20 years in the Financial Services sector. Jane has developed specialisms, including managing and preserving client’s wealth, whilst protecting family and loves ones.  She is also an expert in inheritance and estate planning, ensuring her client’s estates are distributed in accordance with their wishes.

Other areas of specialism are around retirement and cash flow planning. She provides clarity on when clients can afford to stop working, and advice around the mechanics of retirement, including the options available.

Her clients include high net worth individuals, partners of Accountancy and Solicitor firms, trustees, business owners and entrepreneurs.

Tom Kennedy Dip PFS

Tom is a recently retired ex professional footballer with over 500 league games experience.

Tom is now looking to  make his mark on the financial services industry by providing Honest and Trustworthy advice to sporting professionals.

He is hungry to learn and excited about the future with Pro Sport Wealth Management.

Michael Wharton Dip PFS

Michael graduated in Hull in 1996 with a degree in Business and Foreign Languages, after which he worked for two of the UK’s leading Life Insurers. Michael’s financial planning career was built at one of Yorkshire’s leading former independent financial advisers, and now focusses primarily on investment, retirement and estate planning.

Michael works closely with Accountants and Solicitors, to create tailored financial plans on behalf of his clients, with a focus on long-term strategic planning.

Michael is skilled at translating the inordinately complex language of financial services into plain meaningful terms, which enables his clients to make important decisions about how their wealth is managed. His financial planning philosophy has a clear focus on removing uncertainty and minimising financial risk by planning ahead of time.

He is working towards the Chartered Financial Planner qualification, a benchmark for the industry’s leading planners. Michael currently holds the Diploma in Financial Planning and Canadian Securities Certificate.

Michael grew up on the North York Moors, and has lived variously in York, the east coast of Canada, and now Leeds. In his spare time, he enjoys fell walking, camping with his three lively sons, watching junior football, worldwide travel, and keeping fit in the gym.

Simon thrives on working on complex client circumstances. Having worked in the sector since 1997, his analytical approach enables him to work as part of a client advisory team to deliver appropriate strategies to clients enabling them to meet their financial planning needs.

Away from the office Simon is a keen cyclist and likes nothing more than escaping and exploring on two wheels.

In 2016 John founded a new firm – Stonebridge Wealth Management Ltd, after working alongside Phil Rose since 1993. The new firm sits within Group IFA  and John has the ambition of creating his new financial advisory business which continues to place the client at its centre.

John has a fantastic relationship with both clients and employees and enjoys working with all parties to develop financial plans that achieve the set objectives. In his spare time, John enjoys an active lifestyle including skiing, playing football and golf.

At Group IFA he is responsible for Risk Mitigation and with an approach driven by hard work and timescales, Tim is a central part of the team.
